Under The Sea - Deco Art Challenge

Fishy Fishy Wild and Free........

Finished with Lights on .

Waves hello this is my entry for the DecoArt Challenge Under the sea......... I have used Andy Skinners Ministry of Mixology Frame Kit.

I painted all 8 pieces with white Deco Art Gesso , I then used some stencils two of which were Andy's Whirlpool ans Tornado stenicls along with two others , I liked the fact that they reminded me of whirlpools in the water. I used Deco Arts  textured Sand  and the modeling paste thought the stencils to give the background  depth.

The back plate and the center Middle frame were made using a host of deco Art Media Fluid Acrylics. These were used as washes and drops of rubbing Alcohol were used after each layer to create the Backgrounds.

Crab is stamped on tissue paper and glued onto a flat pebble from the beach .

The frame was then stamped with one of  Andy's Industrial background stamps with the metallic DecoArt acrylic White Pearl. The Boarders were edged with the Brilliant Turquoise and Elegant Emerald Metallic Lusters, but somewhere along the line i ended up going over it with the Metallic white Pearl Acrylic Paint.

I stamped the fishes , crab and octopus onto tissue paper and then used used a clear glue to adhere them either to the backgrounds or the stones I collected from the beach the week before. I used die cuts for the seahorse x 3 and stuck them together to get dimension. He is also stamped with the industrial background stamp in Metallic oyster white.

Seahorse
The Main Frame is painted with a whole range of the Metallic colours festive green.teal, ice blue, white pearl and oyster pearl.I just kept adding colours until I was happy with it. It also has many layers of different lusters too Including the orange Flicker .but mainly silver spark as i think it gave it the kind of white water/breaking water look.

I've used some chains I've had laying around for ages to frame the boarders, I guess because it reminds me of two things the anchor chains and the big heavy metal chains you see going into the water sometimes .

I have added sea shells, cogs, a crown and  jewels for all the creatures eyes. There are star fish even teeny tiny ones. I made the seaweed by painting a berry garland with the festive Green metallic Paint by Decoart

Even the shell i have tried to use weathered Wood with the titan buff as a top coat, it nearly worked :-)

weathered wood seashell .

Here are some of the pictures I can show you of the inside walls where the lights are fixed.

Inside the frame you can see the lights look like seaweed though.

Andy Skinners Blog Challenge Bold and bright .... Imagine a world without colour ...

Omg I very nearly didn't post this after I looked at the beautiful entries for Andy Skinners bold and bright blog challenge that have already entered. This is my first attempt at a mixed media canvas using DecoArt media Fluid Acrylics and such likes with in the range. So for all the newbies or not so polished peeps scared to show their work this is for you lol.

 .
I wanted to push myself to do new techniques. I used Andy's Tando Art Owl Stencil,DecoArt  Modeling Paste, Crackle Paste and media Fluid Acrylics as well as interference gold..
It certainly isn't a master piece but its bold and bright

Good Morning
Its been a long time since I posted, I want to be able to enter some of my work to some of the blog challenges so thought I'd better start practicing. These are the tags I made for the February tag swap over at ukscrappers. The Theme was hearts I used dylusion inks and word text. Wooden hearts glittered with Martha Stewart fine glitter.I used Daniel Torrente heart stamp for the background and stamped Kate Cranes Kate's Angel on acetate and filled the little heart with glitter
I added some fibers and a metal key to tie in with the saying.

Book of Secrets an Andy Skinner on-line workshop.............

I found The Book of Secrets while I was looking around at other peoples work and fell in love with it. Andy Skinner is very talented and his work shop can be found here.  I have had a lot of lovely comments from my friends thank you so much. I'm hoping that my blog will be a place they eventually come to look at my work. well here's hoping anyway. I took at trip to the Artistic Stamper to buy the wooden box and cogs and bits and pieces. Its such a great shop if you ever get to drop by its in Wantage in Oxford.

Lavinia Stamps Challenge # 2.

Today is my first post so be gentle with me, I'm sure that as I get the hang of this blogging things will change lol, I wont be here all the time as I have a demanding job that takes up too much of my time, but needs must. Anything I make I make because I love it, crafting DEstresses ME . Here is my take on the Lavinia Stamps challenge #2 blue or lilac or both. As some of you will know I'm  a bright coloured Girl but these softer colours are growing on me. I was very lucky last year for my birthday my wonderful Partner Carl brought me a monthly subscription for Lavinia stamps so I could spend £25 a month on Tracey's beautiful stamps. See you all soon ...........
